Many years ago. Ten, twelve years ago, it was determined that they wanted to have a new facility. So what we decided to do, was really aim for the skies. I realised that we needed to have a community contribution. And with that we got to nearly $200,000 and that gave great credibility to the application. It’s really exciting for our community, It’s a fantastic asset that we’ve been working towards for a long time. We were lucky that the last one lasted as long as it did. But the world has moved on, and we want to make sure that we’ve got a building that can welcome everyone of all abilities. It’s fantastic that we’ve got a pavilion now that welcomes everyone in the community. It’s just amazing to see it complete and
to pull everyone together, Council, State Government, but most importantly the club and the community. and to see a first-class facility that’s really going to benefit not just the sporting clubs, but all of Monbulk. There’s going to
be lots of community activities, private activities, parties, community events through this facility, so it’s got a huge impact on the broader community and that’s why it was such a worthy project. We’ve got four wonderful change rooms
that can service the netballers and we’ve got a lot of female participation and a wonderful new social room with a second story view of the top of the ground. Everybody is loving it at the moment, it’s been fantastic. I’ve been part of the cricket club for 30 years my dad was president so I sort of grew up here. The log cabin which was over there was a big part of my life. It was well and truly overdue and certainly all three clubs had outgrown it. So yeah, moving into the pavilion up there, it’s very exciting. It’s not about me anymore, it’s about the future and my kids and grand kids enjoying a first-class facility.
